More families can afford care than think they can.
The sticker price isn’t the whole story. Here’s every way families pay for care at our homes, including one benefit most veteran families never claim.
VA Aid & Attendance: the one nobody tells you about
If your loved one is a wartime veteran, or the surviving spouse of one, they may qualify for up to $2,424/month (single veteran), $2,874/month (veteran with a spouse), or $1,558/month (surviving spouse) toward care costs under 2026 rates. Most eligible families never claim it because nobody told them it exists. We’ll point you to accredited help with the application at no cost. It’s paperwork, not a miracle, and it’s real money. Battle Creek is a VA town. We know this process well. Rates are set by the VA and change annually; confirm your family’s eligibility and exact amount with an accredited VSO or the VA directly.
Private pay
Most of our families pay from income, savings, or the proceeds of selling a home. At our starting rates, a real home with 24/7 staff often costs less than staying home with part-time paid help.
Long-term care insurance
If a policy exists, it usually pays. We’ll help you understand what your policy covers and handle the paperwork the insurer needs from us.
What about Medicaid?
Honest answer: Michigan Medicaid coverage for assisted living is limited and complicated. Some situations work, many don’t. Call Jennifer at (269) 399-6675 and she’ll tell you straight whether it can work for your family. Michigan’s MI Choice waiver helps some families, but enrollment waits are long. We can accept residents who are already enrolled; if you’re starting the process, we’ll point you to the right people and help you plan the timeline.
